Carlton Miles, prominent Broadway critic and playwright, has been selected by the Dramatic Club to stage their production of "Jonah and the Whale", an English Comedy by James Bridie, it was announced today.
Mr. Miles was mainly responsible last spring for the Club's presentation of Richard Hughes' "A Comedy of Good and Evil", which at the time critics declared the club's finest success in a decade.
As a producer, Mr. Miles is known to New York audiences for "Nine Pino Street", written in collaboration with John Colton. The author of the internationally known success "Rain". Other Broadway productions of his plays include "Portrait of Gilbert" and "The Granite Lady".
His reputation as a critic and interpreter of the contemporary theatre was gained during his 15 years as drama editor of the Minneapolis Journal. In addition to this newspaper experience, Mr. Miles has written articles for "Theatre Arts Monthly" and the London Daily Telegraph.
Mr. Miles will announce the final cast for "Jonah and the Whale" next week.
