Inaugurating its third year of existence, the Harvard Stamp Club met yesterday evening in the Union and was addressed informally by Hayliger deWindt '12.
In spite of is youth, the Club showed signs of influence last spring when, at its instigation, a bill was nearly passed providing for a special issue of stamps in commemoration of Harvard's Tercentenary.
DeWindt was introduced by Kendric N. Marshall '21, Secretary of the Union, who in turn was introduced by Gordon B. Allan '38, president of the club.
He outlined the history of United States cancellations and showed several interesting and valuable examples, dating as far back as 1795.
Meetings will be held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, it was decided, and elections for this year's officers will take at the next meeting.
