Water pipes bursting caused a minor flood throughout C entry of Holworthy on New Year's Eve.
The catastrophe was the direct result of the prolonged and severe cold spell which froze the pipes on the top floor. The water which at first stood two inches deep on the floor of the upper rooms, was soon mopped up, but the seepage continued through the ceilings and walls down to the ground floor, loosening plaster and wallpaper on the way.
The only remaining evidences, however, to greet the returning inhabitants of the entry are discolorations of the ceilings and walls and a strange musty odor throughout the rooms.
