FIVE HARVARD FENCERS IN OLYMPIC TRYOUTS

Hurd, Lilienthal, Gerber, Morgan, and Kerlin Crimson Entries; More May Be Added Later

Five or more Harvard fencers will take part in the Olympic fencing tryouts which will be held at the M.I.T. gymnasium this Saturday.

Leading the Crimson entrants will be John S. Hurd 2L, 1934 Intercollegiate Champ and number 3 ranking player in the United States. Philip E. Lilienthal '36, fencing captain and star performer, will also be on hand.

Other Entries

Other certain entries, according to Coach Peroy, will be William F. Gerber '37, Richard Morgan 4th. '36, and Gilbert Kerlin 3L., former undergraduate star.

Other fencers will undoubtedly be added to the list before Saturday. The tryouis are scheduled for the afternoon, with the finals following in an evening session.

The fencing team faces a schedule of seven meets this winter, ending with the Intercollegiates on March 27 and 28. There are about 20 men who have been fencing regularly during the early winter, and the team should turn out to be a strong out St.
