Without plans for its future use, Hemenway, Gymnasium will remain closed this year, it has been decided by John W. Lowes '20, financial vice-president of the University.
In the spring of 1934 the H.A.A. decided to close the 50-year-old building the following winter for reasons of economy. Upon popular demand it was re-opened in October, 1934 for graduate students, primarily those from the Law School. Before the winter was over the old Gym was again, closed, for there had been too little enthusiasm to warrant the expense of its upkeep.
