RICHARD AND HENRY AMES

Should Richard and Henry Ames have died in an ordinary manner, their deaths would have come as an irreparable loss to Harvard; but the acts of heroism with which they gave up their lives make their story a living force for their College.

No one can define in words the emotions which are inspired by the story of the attempted rescue of the Hamrah. He can only think how fortunate Harvard has been to receive freely from their abilities and how splendid it is that here was a family who gave their friends a brief but enduring glimpse of life, unselfishly lived and unselfishly given.
