Thoroughly rested after a two months trip abroad, president Conant reached his home on Quincy Street Sunday ready to tackle the many problems which demand his attention. Arriving in New York last weekend with Mrs. Conant and his two sons, James and Theodore, the President declined to comment on politics or education and would only say that he had had a "grand trip."
The Conants took a car to Europe with them and spent the early part of July at St. Briene on the coast of Brittany. They motored across France to Annency at the foot of the Alps where they had a cottage for a month. The President divided his time between motoring, walking, and swimming.
His only return to public life during his vacation was on September 4 when he addressed the Harvard Club of France at the Pavillion Royale in the Bois de Boulogne. Also on the program was Phillippe-Jules-Fornand Baldensperger who was appointed last spring as professor of Comparative Literature for the next five years.
