FACULTY TO CONTINUE NEWLY-BORN COUNCIL

TO FACILITATE DISCUSSION DURING GENERAL MEETINGS

Meeting for its last formal assemblage of the year, the entire faculty voted yesterday to continue the delegation of its powers to the Council of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences for the year 1935-36. These powers include all except those already assigned to the Administrative Boards, and the recommendations for degrees.

The Council was established in accordance with the recommendations of President Conant and Dean Murdock in their annual reports, as the present unwieldy size of the faculty had made it difficult for the President to secure useful discussion of questions at general meetings of the group.

Elections to the council are held during the first two weeks of the college year, when is chosen one representative from each of the departments under the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the method of election being left to the discretion of the individual departments.
