With Howland B. Stoddard '36 and Richard W. Emory '35 fighting in the finals of the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Championship, held Saturday evening at the University of Pennsylvania, the Crimson wrestlers trailed a field of eight to finish last with a minus five points.
Lehigh University, piling up 23 points, spectacularly defeated their opponents to finish in first place. Penn State, who had been pre-meet favorites, had to content themselves with second place, scoring 17 points, while Princeton and Yale finished third and fourth with 14 and 13 points.
Six members of the Crimson team entered the preliminaries last Friday, yet only two men reached the finals. Stoddard, fighting in the 126-pound class, lost to William Chilvers of Columbia University by a decision after two extra periods of fighting. In the 175-pound division. Emory lost to Edward King of Columbia University who had a time advantage of five minutes and three seconds.
