UNIVERSITY SWIMMERS MATCH SPEED TONIGHT

Fast Times Seen as Post-Season Races Give Highly Touted '38 Men Chance To Conquer Varsity

University swimming stars will have an opportunity to shine tonight when the annual pool meet gets underway at 8 o'clock in the Indoor Athletic Building. Freshmen, Varsity, upperclassmen, and graduate students have all entered.

Seven events are planned: a medley relay, the 50, 100, and 220-yard free style, the 100-yard breast and back stroke swims, and the dive.

The Freshman mermen, who have broken a majority of their records this season, and defeated Yale, 41-30. Wednesday night, will have a chance to compete against Varsity opposition.

The times of the first year and Varsity swimmers are very close, with but a few seconds, and in many cases, fractions of seconds, separating them. Against the Elis, the former set three new dual marks and three new Freshman records. According to Varsity coach Hal Ulen, this meet promises to be as interesting as any held this season in the pool, and there should be many close races with the keen competition likely to bring out better performances than have yet been turned in this year.
