MELLON'S WEALTH

Federal Courtroom, Pittsburgh, Feb. 20--The long-hidden personal wealth of Andrew W. Mellon was revealed today as more than $97,000,000 (M), not including the other millions which he holds in such huge corporations as the Aluminum Company of America and the Gulf Refining Company.

The figure--exactly $97,603,005.49 as of December 31, 1931, after the stock market crash of 1929 which sent many millionaires into near-poverty--was calmly disclosed by Mellon's confidential secretary as he testified at the hearing by which the Federal Government seeks to collect an additional $3,000,000 on Mellon's 1931 income.
