HANDICAP TRACK MEET COMPLETES FIRST DAY

Playfair Beats Scheu and Woodard in Mile and Half by Last Lap Sprint to Win Race

Sprinting his way out in front as the last laps of the mile-and-one-half began, Bob Playfair, distance star of Eddie Farrell's track team, broke the tape for that event in the time of 7.24, Jack Scheu, whose record breaking run on Saturday night won the University Club mile for Harvard, finished second, a few yards behind, and Charlie Woodard placed third.

Downes of the Freshman class took the 35-pound weight throw, while Young, another of the handicap men, placed second, Reznick, winner of last year's weight throw, was third. The absence of Cahners left the Varsity men without a representative in this event.

A muddy track prevented the track men from running off the rest of the contests. The hurdles, the 50-yard dash, the 300-yard run, the 600-yard run were postponed until this afternoon.
