Old Man Winter, sage of the Boston Transcript, reports after making a survey of New England and vicinity that there still is lacking the necessary one foot crust of snow for safe skiing.
In the various sections around Mt. Washington a temperature in the middle thirties is predicted, but rain is also expected. Yesterday morning at 8 o'clock, Mt. Washington reported ten inches of snow, the highest in the New England states and Pinkham Notch measured nine inches.
Messages from New Hampshire and Vermont have brought the news that there was not enough snow to go skiing yesterday, but that an occasional fall is expected today.
