Merry-go-Round

Hotels

For dinner and dancing to a famous orchestra we suggest some of New York's more important hotels:

Hotel Ambassador, (51st and Park Ave.) features Vincent Lopez in the new Trianon Room, and a fine cuisine.

Hotel Lincoln, (44th and 8th. Ave.) features Isham Jones in the new Blue Room. Saturday couvert $1.00.

Hotel Lexington, (48th and Lexington) offers Isham Jones in the new Blue Room. Saturday couvert $1.00, dinner from $1.25.

Hotel Roosevelt (46th and Madison) Bernie Cummin's orchestra together with songs by Dorothy Crane.

Hotel New Yorker (34th and 8th Ave.) where the Three Debutantes' sweet voices blend with the music of Hollywood's own Ted Fio Rito. Couvert Saturday $1.50. Dinner from $1.75.

Hotel Plaza (58th and 5th Ave.) Piano pounding Eddie Duchin is extremely popular, so make your reservations early. Dancing by the De Marcos.

Night Clubs

After the theatre, late in the evening, you'd do well to drop in to:

The Stork Club (3 E. 53rd St.). Nat Brandwyne's Band and Nano Rodrige's rumba orchestra alternate for dancing. Miss Marjorie Logan, Greenwich society girl, who sang last season at the St. Regis and over a nation-wide hookup, sings at this fashionable rendez-yous.

Leon and Eddie's (33 W. 56th St.) offers a riotous time with the hottest show in town. Always a young crowd.

Jack Dempsey's (50th and 8th Ave.) supplies an excellent dinner with steaks grilled over charcoal before your eyes. There's a blue mirrored, soft-lighted cocktail room, and a supper dance room with two orchestras. You may enjoy Jack's endless collection of antographed photographs of the world's famous.

Le Coq Rouge (65 E. 56th St.). Luminous glass wall murals, showing aeroplane night views of New York City. Irvin Gilbert's music.

Hollywood (48th and Broadway). Features a snappy floor show.

The French Casino (7th Ave. and 50th) presents a spectacular floor show in the real Parisian manner. Jack Denny plays. There is a minimum charge of $3.50 on Saturdays.

Greenwich Village

For a more informal roisterous evening, we suggest in colorful Greenwich Village:

The Village Barn (52 W. 8th) which caters to a college crowd. A rustic barn, the walls of which are covered with college pennants and hay, but the floor of which is smooth for dancing. You'll meet all your friends.

The Greenwich Village Inn (5 Sheridan Sq.). Good music, large dance floor, intriguing fan and bubble dances before deep blue spotlights.

Then there's the Brewery (186 W. 4th) and the ever crowded Pepper Pot (146 W. 4th). For a bit of Spain you might try El Chico (80 Grove St.)

Dance Hall Dives

Wandering stages this weekend will find a lively evening in Broadway's several dance halls. Of which we select:

Orpheum Dance Paiaco (46th and Broadway) is well known as a place to see and a place to be seen. Not bad at all.

Roseland Ball Room (51st and Broadway) beats of Fletcher Henderson and one hundred (100) beautiful hostesses (100). A rosy glow prevails over all.

The Silver Slipper (Broadway and W. 48th) beats a bevy of beauties.

Congress (51st and Broadway). A cabaret with a gigantic dance floor and show. There are clever dance arrangements complete with harp by the orchestra of Bob Sylvester, who formerly arranged for Hal Kemp.
