On December 13 the Bellboys will present the "Beggar's Opera," a play written in 1720 by John Gay, at the lowest ebb of English morals.

Under the general direction of Douglas W. Overton '36, the actors will be coached by Allan G. Downer 2G., while Allan Bartman '36 is preparing the coatumes.

Included in the cast in Professor William Y. Elliott, who will play the part of Lockit, the Jailor, while other parts in the play will be portrayed as follows: Mr. Peachum by Alan J .Dimond '37; Lucy Lockit by Ralph Lazzaro '36; Captain Macheat by John Gochenour '36; Polly by Courtland Canby '36; Mrs. Peachum by Peter L. Scott '36; The Beggar by Leonard Hammer '38; Filch by Robert C. Cochrane, Jr. '38; Dianna Trapes by Robert E. Rogers '38; and William L. Batt '38 will play the part of "The Player."

"Ladies of the Town" will be played by H. Stewart Voegtlin '36, Philip W. Morso '38, Floyd W. Tomkins, Jr. '38 and Edward J. Coffey '36.

Music will be under the direction of Claude Chaisson, harpsichordist, while the lighting effects will be created by Freedom H. Ainsworth '38.

Satires at Adams

Last year Adams House gave satires on various features of the House Plan, and tutorial system, and the same idea is to be followed out this year at the Christmas dinner on December 16.

Leverett House will present the farce "Charlie's Aunt" on December 19, while Eliot will attempt Ben Jouson's "Volpone."

Dunster House will give John Dryden's "Marriage a la Mode", in which the subplot alone will be used.

Kirkland will have their Christmas dinner and play on December 4, as previously planned, and Winthrop House will give "The Social Class", under the coaching of Kenneth P. Kempton '12, instructor in English.
