With every House but Kirkland and Dudley represented, Lowell amassed a total of twenty points to beat Winthrop in the House cross country race yesterday. Winthrop added fifteen points to their score in the Straus Trophy Competition, while Adams, in third place, gained ten points. Dunster was fourth with five points.
E. H. Walker, Varsity harrier from Winthrop, crossed the finish line a scant yard ahead of F. M. Rivinus, a Lowell representative. A few seconds later C. C. DeCoster managed to pass Lawson of Adams in the last few strides to gain third place for Lowell House. The rest in the field of eighteen were widely scattered. Inasmuch as the first three runners have all had Varsity experience, their superiority was not surprising; but of the fifteen others, only Lawson was in a contending position as they raced for the finish line. Although Rivinus had previously won the University Handicap, it was generally expected before the race that Walker would be the victor.
