VARSITY BOOTERS WIN OVER DARTMOUTH AS JIM WOOD SCORES ONE GOAL

GOOD PERFORMANCE BY CAPTAIN JOHN DORMAN

For the second time this year Jim Wood's educated left toe gave the soccer team a 1-0 victory, as the Crimson nosed out Dartmouth here yesterday afternoon.

Seizing one of the few obvious scoring chances of the game Harvard's outside rammed home a third period shot to duplicate his winning effort against Williams two weeks ago.

The rest of the game showed little difference in the strength of the opposing forces. Aside from Wood's shot the one factor instrumental in the home team win was the inspirational play of Captain John Dorman.

After the crafty Green forwards had repeatedly manoeuvered Jack Carr's Sophomore fullbacks out of position, the Crimson leader and Varsity track team sprinted back from his position to break up scoring combinations on the make.

Starting his first game of the season Ted Roosevelt at left halfback also played a strong defensive game.

Coach Carr's forward line was rather ineffectual yesterday. Jim Wood and Leon Manheimer played well at the outside posts, but around center substitute Newlin Hastings '38, in his initial performance, appeared to have an edge over the starting regulars.
