Last February William J. Bingham '16, director of Athletics and Physical Education, was elected Chairman of the Olympic Track and Field Committee for the Berlin games in 1936. Last night some doubt was expressed by the committee as to whether the United States would take part in the games or not.
A member of the Committee, Avery Brundage, was sent to Germany to find out whether the Teutonic race would discriminate against Jewish athletes during the games. He has returned, and last night he made his report to the committee. The final decision should be known tomorrow.
Mr. Brundage would make no observations on what he had learned in Germany. Fear was felt that he brought bad tidings.
