Heart Attack Claims Noted Eclipse Authority At Home

Dr. Willard Fisher Only Faculty Loss During Summer

The faculty suffered only one loss from death during the summer months, that of Dr. Willard James Fisher '66, Lecturer at the Harvard Observatory and international authority on lunar eclipses. He died suddenly from a heart attack on September 3 at his home, 49 Langdon Street, Cambridge.

Dr. Fisher was known throughout the world for his deep interest in all data concerning the eclipses of the moon and encouraged missionaries, Eskimos, members of the Royal Mounted Police, explorers, seamen, trappers, and naval officers to make observations during an eclipse and send the data to him.
