COMPETITIONS FOR ALL CRIMSON BOARDS OPEN

Candidates From '86, '37 will Report For First Meeting at the Crimson Building at 7.30

On Thursday September 26, at 7.30 o'clock, the CRIMSON will open its first fall competition for members of the class of 1936 and 1937. The competitions will be open in all four boards of the paper, the news, editorial, business and photographic divisions. Sophomores may compete for the news, photographic, and business boards while juniors only are allowed to competed for the editorial board. The competitions will last for eight weeks in all boards except the Editorial, where is some cases, if in the opinion of the board, a candidate seems to be of the proper calibre, he may be taken on before the full eight weeks in completed.

The first competition for Freshmen does not open at this time but will start somewhat later in the fall and will be announced in the CRIMSON at that time.

For the Sophomore who comes out for the news board at this time there is a short, but externally interesting trial period, where be his tested in his ability at writing and newsgathering and then admitted is editorship in the news end. The editorial competition open to Juniors is perhaps the most valuable and interesting of them all, for it gives the candidates a chance to do some original thinking and but upon paper once a day his ideas on college topics. The Business Board competition to a period of instructions in the act of running the financial and business managership of a college newspaper. In his work the candidate will see how a small business organization to put together and learn how to operate the affairs of such an organization. In the competition for the photographic board the candidate will become acquainted with the wiles of darkroom life and the operation of cameras. His press card will admit him to the big games to take pictures and will gain him access to the presence of famous people to photograph then and bear their words of wisdom as given out to his follow news candidates.
