THE CRIME

Mrs. Clough, Leverett House's head waitress, has her troubles. During the recent heat wave she discovered to her horror that one of the House members had slipped into the dining room without a neektie and without a coat. After about fifteen minutes' consideration, she edged up to the table where he was sitting and left this note beside his plate:

"Mr.--:

The Senior Tutor, Mr. Evans, has requested that no gentleman enter the dining room unless he is wearing a coat."

Not at all disturbed by this, Mr.--finished eating and then left. We suppose you have already guessed that his friends who were left at the table then signed our here's name to this note:

"Mrs. Clough:

I am no gentleman."

They did.
