First House Heats To Be Rewed On River Today

First heats in the annual House crew regatta will be stroked out today on the River when all the eight House boats put to a preliminary test the results of the many gruelling practice sessions of the last several weeks.

The races will be run off in two separate heats, with Adams, Brooks, Dunster, and Lowell splashing it out to the bitter end in the first, which is slated to get under way at 5.30 o'clock; and with Eliot, Kirkland, Leverett, and Winthrop competing in the second, which is supposed to start at 6 o'clock. There will also be a race for those Houses which have second crews listed. These consist of Eliot, Kirkland, and Lowell, the contest being scheduled to begin at 6.30 o'clock today, instead of tomorrow, as previously planned.

All races will be run downstream over the Henley course, a distance of 1 and 5-16 miles. The referee for all the events will be Coach Bert hains. Although no crew is especially favored to come through as the winner, the Anglers have turned in the best trial time of 7 minutes and 11 seconds. The Bellboys once made 7.15, but that is the closest on record that any other aggregation has been able to come.

The first two crews in each of the heats will enter the final test on next Wednesday, and the winner there will stroke it out with Yale on Saturday, May 26, at Derby, Connecticut.

The following men are listed to compete:
