Chemistry 2a Laboratory Contest Won by Webster

Twelve Students Compete for Prize Instead of Taking Exams

The laboratory contest staged by Professor Fieser last week for a selected group of Chemistry 2a students was won by Andrew G. Webster '36. William F. Loomis '36 took second prize, and Stanley J. Boguniecki '36, was third.

For the past few years the laboratory work of the course has been culminated by practical laboratory examinations for all students. This year a group of twelve ranking students were given the option of a contest instead of the customary examination, and prizes were offered to the winners. Each man was given a list of compounds to be prepared under the supervision of a committee of judges on Thursday. Various dignitaries of the Chemistry Department attended, and the contest was marked by exceptional displays of technique by all the competitors.
