You have to speak fast to keep up with the new deal. Consider the case of Dean Donham of the Harvard Business School. He is supposed to have received a letter from General Johnson offering him indirectly the job directing the N. R. A. planning and research division. He failed to answer it for a few days and then wrote Johnson a letter saying he would drop down to Washington for a talk.
After he boarded the train on route to Washington the papers carried the story that Leon Henderson had been appointed to the job. It seems that General Johnson, not hearing from Dean Donham immediately, went ahead and gave the job to someone else. --Paul Mallon in Boston Herald.
