The Anti-Long group, led by Alvin M. Josephy, Jr. '36, that has been carrying on a fight to oust Huey Long from the United States Senate, withdrew from the sponsorship of the Liberal Club last night.
The action of these members was caused by the belief that in campaigning alone, they can function more swiftly and efficiently. The members of the group have not withdrawn from the Liberal Club and Josephy remains chairman of the Political Actions Committee, but the fight for an investigation of Long will henceforth be divorced from that organization.
The specific purpose of the campaign against Long was stated last night to be an endeavor to prefer the serious charges that have already been made against the Louisiana senator. At present the Committee on Privileges and Elections in the Senate has shelved the charges according to the Anti-Long faction and they demand a definite decision as to the Kingfish's status.
More than 50 colleges all over the country have pledged their support of the campaign and the fight has spread to all parts of the United States.
