Student Waiters' Petition Supported by All But Four

Petitioners Plan to Interview Dean This Afternoon

Six more names were added last night to the student waiter petition, bringing the total up to 36, with four men refusing to sing. The leaders of the petition plan to consult a faculty member; today and then take it to Dean Deighton or Dean Bender.

The case against compulsory exercise, as presented by the student waiters, is as follows: "The primary interest at Harvard lies in attaining a high scholastic standing. We believe that in a striving to reach that goal, all possible time should be spent in pursuing regular studies without lowering the standard of physical health. The compulsory, exercise plan, in our ease, at least overlooks both these points. Not only are the three additional hours of strenuous activity lowering our health through physical exhaustion; they take at least three valuable hours each week which would ordinarily be spent in studying."
