Some ingenious persons covered the John Harvard statue last night with a coat of tar. The same persons, presumably, marked a large '87 on the wall at the entrance of the chapel.

The "Yale Courant" says encouragingly of the prospects for our eleven: There is still time for a brace, and we may yet see an old-fashioned Yale-Harvard game here on the 22nd.

At the University of Virginia, there are said to be no regularly prescribed course of study, no entrance examinations, no vacations, except the summer one, and but six holidays.
