Holmes to Replace Coolidge As Head of Museum Trustees

Edgell Appointed to Fill Open Office of Director

To succeed T. Jefferson Coolidge '15 as president of the board of trustees of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the board yesterday announced the election of Edward J. Holmes '95, director of the museum since 1926. George H. Edgell '09, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, has been appointed to replace Mr. Holmes as director.

Mr. Coolidge resigned because his recent appointment as under-secretary of the Treasury has required his presence in Washington, and made it impossible for him to continue his museum activities. Mr. Edgell has long been associated with the museum as a trustee.
