The Leverett gridsters jolted Adams from their pinnacle as an unbeaten team in the house gridiron circuit yesterday, stealing a close game from them 7-6, while Lowell and Winthrop, the only undefeated clubs in the league, fought to a scoreless tie.
Adams tallied on the first play against the Rabbits when Hart recovered a fumbled kickoff over the goal line. Leverett retaliated by rushing the ball over in the second period. A plunge scored the extra point.
Lowell took a slight advantage early in the game with Winthrop, but the Puritans tightened their defense before the half. The play was then evenly matched until Winthrop intercepted a pass and threatened to score near the end of the game.
