The position of sparring master at the gymnasium was filled by appointing E. J. Ferris, the well known teacher of the manly art, to take the place made vacant by J. E. Mellen, who left to take charge of a gymnasium in Rochester, N. Y.

The Columbia College Library has been opened to graduates and the public by cards. It is open every day from 8 A.M. to 10 P.M., and it is lighted by electricity in the evenings.
