It was in the Brown game. The Bruins had just kicked a lofty punt which sailed over the sidelines almost into the Harvard stands. The head linesman with a puzzled look on his face called out to the referee, "Hey, Bill, did you see where that one went out?"
Bill ambled over and they went into a huddle. Bill said confidentially, "No, I didn't"
"Neither did I," said the linesman.
"Well, lot's stick it here, anyway," said William with a good-natured chuckle, indicating a spot some five yards back of the place where the ball actually did go off.
"O.K.," said his nibs, the linesman.
