Scoring two runs in the last half of the final inning, the Varsity nine nosed out the Brown Varsity by the score of 2-1 yesterday at Soldiers Field, in a keenly contested yet rather poorly played game. Faced with a shutout defeat, the home team rallied in the final frame to score two runs, when Hines and Murmes singled, bringing home Gleason and Laughlin, who ran for Hines.
Both aggregations exhibited an uncanny inability to utilize the chances they had to score. Hunt, who started for the visitors on the mound, was replaced by Slader in the second inning.
A ninth inning rally by the Brown freshman baseball team nosed out the Crimson Jayvees by the margin of 2-1 yesterday. The Freshman baseball team soundly trounced Tufts Freshmen yesterday by a 14-1 score.
