Colonel William E. Haskell 84, a founder of the CRIMSON, died yesterday at his home in Salisbury, Maryland, at the age of 72. After leaving Harvard, Colonel Haskell entered the newspaper business and for several years was publisher of the Boston Herald. Previous to his retirement from active business six years ago, he was vice-president of the International Paper Company.
While at Harvard, he became interested in newspaper work and was one of the three men responsible for the founding of the Harvard Daily Herald in January 1882.
