A YEAR INDOORS

For a year's excise and use of a locker in the Indoor Athletic Building there is a charge of $9. In view of the fact that a part if not the whole of the gift from the "anonymous donor" is still to be received by the University, this charge cannot be condemned as totally unnecessary. If a student is going to devote an entire scholastic year to indoor sports there is also the apparent opportunity for him to receive his money's worth. The many who would prefer to use the gymnasium for only a part of the year, however, are faced with a strange situation. With the exception of a $2 reduction in the locker fee during the last three months of the year there is no other reduction of any sort. Using the building for just the winter, costs as much as using it for the entire year.

This failure on the part of the authorities to discriminate between the year-round user and the part time user is illogical. It cannot be correctly excused on economic grounds. The total receipts would be larger and the number of men buying participation tickets would increase it the price were scaled down to correspond to the period of use.

By overcoming another outworn prejudice it seems that the Athletic Association should be able to bring about a more intensive use of the gymnasium, lighten the individual financial cost and at the same time increase their own receipts.
