Novice candidates for crew will wait until fall to practice on the long-promised, twenty-oared new Leviathan. Members of the staff at the Weld boathouse, denied reports that this training ship would be ready for spring practice.
The old Leviathan had seen ten years of fall and spring service before it sunk at its moorings in mid-winter. The sinking was not unexpected, and was remarkable only because the ship had lasted as long as it had.
The new boat is to be built this summer, and will probably be constructed from the specifications of its predecessor.
