Eight Teams Will Play Each Other Once, With Winner Meeting Yale

House baseball gets under way today when all candidates report to Coach Henry Lamar, the boxing mentor, and his assistant, on the Freshman diamonds of Soldiers Field, it was announced last night by A. W. Samborski '25, Director of Intramural Athletics.

It is expected that eight teams will be formed, one from each House, and they will all play each other once. A schedule, in the manner of a roundrobin, has been made up, and in addition to this, every squad will have the opportunity to play some neighboring high or prep school. The season will close on Friday, May 19, and on Saturday, May 27, the winning team will travel to New Haven to play the champion class team of Yale.

Last year 147 men were engaged in Intramural baseball, and Samborski expects that as many will turn out this season. The games, of which two will be played each week, will be seven innings in length, and will start at 3 o'clock. An inter-House committee, consisting of the eight managers, will meet tomorrow night to arrange the details and other rules. All equipment is to be furnished by the University.

Inter-House tennis will commence on Monday, April 24, when the first matches will be played on the Business School courts, which have been reserved especially for the racquetmen. Most of the Houses are now holding tournaments.
