BOXERS PREPARING FOR FIRST MEET WITH M.I.T.

Kayo Simmons Returns as Undefeated Heavyweight -- Coach Henry Lamar And Captain Lamb in Charge

The boxing team, under the leadership of Coach Henry Lamar, is now pointing towards its first meet with M.I.T. on December 15, which will probably be held at M.I.T., although a definite arrangement has not yet been made. The contest will be held at 8 o'clock in the evening. There will be eight classes represented, 115-pound, 125-pound, 135-pound, 145-pound, 155-pound, 165-pound, 175-pound, and the heavyweight class, with a leeway of four pounds allowed either way.

The outstanding men this year on the Varsity are Captain Marshall A. Lamb '34, Phillip W. A. Hines '34, and Bradford Simmons '34. Lamb boxes in the 125-pound class, and Hines is in the 155-pound class. Simmons, 1934 crew captain, has never lost a bout in the heavyweight division. So far no Freshman has been particularly outstanding, but foremost among the promising ones are Peter B. Olney, who prepared at Phillips Exeter Academy, and E. Stouart Davis, formerly of Groton. Olney is in the 155-pound class, and Davis in the 165-pound class.

It is not yet definitely known whether Arthur B. Sullivan '34, who boxed last year in the 145-pound class, will return to the squad; Sullivan was considered to have been one of the hardest hitting men to appear in years, and was expected to accomplish much in the present season.
