Copeland To Give Reading Before Kirkland Members

House To Give Fielding Play on Tuesday Night

Charles Townsend Copeland, Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory, Emeritus, will read in Kirkland House on Thursday, December 7 at 4 o'clock. Professor Copeland's reading will be open to residents of Kirkland House and their guests. Ten will be served afterwards.

This is the third year that Professor Copeland has read at Kirkland House, having conducted a reading every year since the house was established. According to his custom he has not divulged his choice of selections to be read. Professor Copeland will not remain for dinner in the house, but will leave immediately after tea.

On Tuesday, December 5, members of the House will present. Henry Fielding's "Tragedy of Tragedies." The play was written in 1731 and is one of the earliest attempts at burlesque in the English language. The play will be open to members of Kirkland House and their guests, and the tutors and chairmen of the house committees of the other houses.
