Marked by hard hitting, fast riding, and fast scoring, the opening Varsity polo game with Albert C. Burrage's Candlewood trio at the Commonwealth Armory Saturday evening was won by that team 10 1/2 to 10.

Henry A. Gerry '36, a member of last year's Freshman team was advanced to back for the Varsity game, and if his performance there continues to be as good as it was Saturday night, it is likely that he has earned himself a permanent position.

William C. McGuckin '34, veteran number one, vied with Captain Thomas J. Davis '35 for scoring honors, each man getting three goals. Gerry knocked in one, and one was scored off a pony.

Dudley Millikin, of the Candlewood team was the outstanding player on older men's team, making the majority of the scores. The battle was close throughout the chukkers, there being ding-dong scoring during the greater part of the game.

The Javee game with the 100th Cavalry was a walkaway for the methodical Army malletmen who made every shot tell and who played a steady, hard-hitting game. Paul F. Fox '36 headed the Crimson team, Sheldon E. Prentice, '36 playing number two, and Joseph E. Davis '36 at back. Edward H. Gerry '36 was scheduled to start at the latter position, but an injury received two days before the game kept him out.
