Plans for the Armistice Day ceremony, scheduled to take place in the Stadium next Saturday between the halves of the football game with West Point, as announced for publication by the H.A.A. yesterday, have been definitely dropped, it was revealed last night at University, Hall.

Reached on the telephone last night, William I. Nichols '26, Secretary for University Information, made the following statement to the CRIMSON: "The University authorities have decided not to hold any official Armistice Day exercises in connection with the football game. It was felt that it would be an undignified juxtaposition to have an athletic contest and a solemn service together. Harvard University is having a Memorial Service on Armistice Day in the chapel at 8.45 o'clock, which is open to the public. This service is Harvard's method of observing the day."

Among the various events which were to have composed the exercises at the football game next Saturday was the presentation of gifts to Harvard and West Point by Governor Ely. As arrangements had not yet been made with the Governor and the other dignitaries who were to have participated in the program, no difficulty will be experienced in this respect. As explained by Mr. Nichols, yesterday's decision was not caused by the desire to eliminate the observance of Armistice Day, but merely to commemorate the end of the war in a more dignified manner. It was therefore decided to do so at the morning services in Appleton Chapel on Saturday. The observance will be a simple one, taking the form of the regular fifteen minute morning prayer.
