Elephants Easily Defeat Adams and Winthrop Opponents

Eliot golfers yesterday took the house championship title by easily defeating their Winthrop and Adams opponents in a triangular playoff. Each man played individual matches with his two antagonists.

The Elephants piled up a total of 11 points out of a possible 12. Winthrop followed with six victories, while Adams trailed the field with only one point. Preceding the playoff, each house had played the other houses one time, with Winthrop defeating Eliot, Eliot defeating Adams, and Adams defeating Winthrop, to cause the triple tie. However, a revamped Elephant lineup proved effective yesterday in defeating its rivals to gain the first house championship title.

The establishment of House golf has met with much enthusiasm, and next fall it is planned to hold tournaments in the various houses in order that the teams may be made up more easily, and if enough interest is shown, matches may be held in the autumn as well as the spring.

The summary:

Points: Eliot 11, Winthrop 6, Adams 1.
