The choice of Richard Scudder Neff '33, of Chicago, Illinois, to head the Junior ushers for Class Day, was announced last night by E. A. Mays '32, chairman of the Class Day Committee. Neff will appoint eight assistants and 85 other ushers to complete the quota of juniors who will direct the Class Day program.
Concurrently with the announcement of the choice of head usher, the final plans for the details of Class Day were made known.
For the first time in the history of these exercises, the University band will lead the Seniors in their march to Sanders Theatre for the morning chapel services at 11 o'clock and later for the afternoon program at 4 o'clock. Preceding the chapel services, the class will form outside of Holworthy Hall, and led by the band, will march to Sanders. While the Class Ode and Oration are being read from the stage of the Theatre in the afternoon, graduate classes holding reunions, will organize in the Yard for the march to the Stadium, which will follow the exercises.
At the conclusion of the exercises in the Stadium, supper will be served with music for dancing by Ruby Newman's orchestra in Eliot and Lowell Houses while in Winthrop and Leverett the supper will be accompanied by Hawaiian guitar music. The supper music will be interrupted for the Instrumental Clubs' concert but will be continued again at 9.30 o'clock for dancing until midnight.
To accomodate the Instrumental Clubs, which will present a concert in the evening from 8.15 until 9.30 o'clock, a stage designed by G. H. Perkins '26 will be erected in front of the old Freshman Gymnasium and an amplifying system installed so that the music may be heard in all parts of the triangle. The numbers to be rendered by the Instrumental Clubs include presentations by the Banjo and Mandolin Clubs, and specialty pieces by an Hawaiian Guitar quartet, and a vocal trio with guitar accompaniment.
In case of rain or unusually inclement weather, it is planned to hold the concert in the old Gymnasium.
