TENNIS SEASON STARTS FOR CRIMSON COURTMEN

SQUAD WILL MOVE OUT OF DOORS TO DIVINITY COURTS IN APRIL

The tennis season will be ushered in this afternoon at 5 o'clock when all candidates will report to Coach Harry Cowles in the University Squash Courts for preliminary practice and instruction. Competitions for manager of the first team will begin at the same time. Freshman candidates and prospective managers will not come out until tomorrow afternoon.

Despite the loss of W. L. Breese '31, M. T. Hill '31, and A. C. Ingraham '31 by graduation Coach Cowles expects to build a powerful team around a nucleus consisting of Captain D. M. Frame '32, A. W. Patterson '32 and W. C. Thompson '32, who are the returning veterans from last year's team. F. B. Broida '32, J. M. Barnaby '33, S. E. Davenport '34, Richard Inglis, Jr. '33, and Edward Yeomans '33 who showed promise in the tournaments this fall are expected to come out. Several members of last year's Freshman team will also be on hand. The most important match with North Carolina, which defeated Harvard last spring 7-2, is scheduled for May 7. All matches except one with Pennsylvania will be played at home.

Indoor Courts Open Soon

The season starts unusually early this year because the three indoor courts in the Indoor Athletic Building are available and will be used by picked men from the University and Freshman teams. After the end of April when outdoor practice begins, the courts behind the Business School, on Jarvis Street and Divinity Avenue will be ready.

A. H. Bryan '35 and F. B. Whitbeck '35 who won the fall tournament in which almost 100 Freshmen were entered will form the nucleus for the Freshman team.
