Faced with the stiffest game of the season this Saturday, the Harvard eleven will go into the Army contest without the services of Grady and Casale, and with Hallowell almost certainly unable to play. The Crimson's flashy back is crippled by an old hurdling wound, while Hallowell has an injury which has already troubled him several times this season.
Casey, Crickard, Dean, and Hardy were excused from yesterday's practice, while Crane reported on the field in a white shirt. As a result of the disastrous effect of the scrimmages last week in, which several star players were disabled, it is unlikely that there will be any scrimmage this week.
After a short talk by the coaches on the weak points in the Harvard defensive and scoring machinery against Brown's well-regulated attacks, the first string went through a mild blocking and tackling practice. While B looked on, team A went through some new plays.
Demotion of Nevin
The only notable changes in the lineups were the demotion of Nevin to the B eleven, which will be at least temporary, and the substitution of Littlefield at center. He was formerly a tackle, and has frequently worked out in the backfield. Following a short dummy scrimmage between A and B, the seconds gave a snappy demonstration of some of the Army's most effective plays, used in the games against William and Mary and Pitt. Hardy and Crickard are expected to be back on the field for Wednesday's practice. Casey and Dean will be out this afternoon. Bancroft who was one of the best linesmen to oppose the Bruins, was working out yesterday without any sign of the heavy burden he shouldered in Saturday's game.
The lineups:
Team A-Nazro, l.e.; Rogers, l.t.; Esterly, l.g.; Lockwood, c.; Gundlach, r.g.; Bancroft, r.t.; Hageman, r.e.; Gleason, f.b.; Barrett, r.h.b.; Whitney, l.h.b.; Wells q.
