Prominent Justices To Decide Winners of Legal Debates

The semi-final arguments for the Ames Award competition will be held on Thursday, and Friday nights, November 17 and 18, in the Courtroom of Langdell Hall. The Brandeis Club will speak against the Lowell Club on November 17, while on the following night the debate will be between the Choate and Harlan Clubs.

The competition is directed by a special committee, known as the Board of Student Advisers. The men from the third-year class on the Board are A. J. Rockwell, Chairman; R. W. Barrett, Vernon Barrett, R. W. Botts, E. M. Cassel, I. I. King, E. L. McBaney, G. D. Martin, G. D. Reilly, Julian Rosenberg, T. Schneider, and W. M. Weisberg, while H. C. Anderson, D. M. Doherty and C. L. Head represent the second-year men.

Six distinguished judge of various courts have accepted an invitation to sit on the cases. The judges who will preside on November 17 are: Hon. W. M. Maltbie, Chief Justice of Connecticut, presiding; Hon. C. J. Dunn, Justice of the Supreme Court of Maine; and the Hon. J. M. Morton, Jr., United States Circuit Judge for the First Circuit. On November 18, the following judges will officiate: Hon. C. B. McKinney, Justice of the Supreme Court of Tennessee, presiding; Hon. H. B. Wells, Judge of the Court of Errors and Appeals for New Jersey; and the Hon. J. A. Lowell '91, United States District Judge for Massachusetts.
