NEWS CLIPPINGS GIVEN TO THEATRE COLLECTION

Articles on 45,000 Plays Presented by E.F. Edgett '94--Gift an Important Historical Record

A unique gathering of theatre clippings has been given to the Harvard Theatre Collection by E.F. Edgett '94, it was announced yesterday by Miss L.A. Hall, custodian of the collection. The gift contains well-catalogued clippings on over 45,000 plays, which Mr. Edgett has been cutting out of newspapers all over the world for 40 years.

The donator, who is at present literary editor of the Boston Evening Transcript, also gave a large gathering of biographical clippings several years ago, to which he makes additions from time to time, and it is expected that he will also keep contributing to his latest donation. Edgett has written a life of Edward Louis Davenport, noted actor of the Seventies, and collaborated with John Bouve Clapp on "Plays of the Present."
