About 40 men answered the call of E.L. Casey '19, head coach, in the first day of spring practice yesterday. Only five first squad men reported however, as most of the letter men are engaged in other spring sports. The workout yesterday took place in the Freshman field, and consisted of the usual drill of fundamentals and work on dummies.

Special drill was given on passing and line work yesterday, and the squad was given a workout on exercises, which finished off the first day's practice. The first squad men that reported were C.C. Cunningham '32, R.M. Faxon '32, F.H. Kales '32, J.F. Shereschewsky '32, and W.B. Trafford '32.

Line Works Out

After baseball practice was over B.H. Ticknor II '31, who is assisting the line coaching, came over and worked with the line. The other assisting coaches yesterday were E.H. Bradford '26, who coached the ends, Walter Cleary '14, line coach, V.P. Kennard, kicking coach, Nils Nelson 18 and Arthur Sampson, both coaching the backfield.

Practice this spring will be kept informal, according to the Athletic Association, which is consistent with Harvard's policy of not over-emphasizing out-of-season work. The only competitive incentive will be the division of the squad into three camps later on in the season.
