MITCHELL RETAINS 32 AFTER BASEBALL CUT

NEW SQUAD WILL START PRACTICE GAMES NEXT WEEK

32 players survived the second University baseball cut made by Coach Fred Mitchell after practice yesterday. The squad now includes ten pitchers, six catchers, 12 infielders, and four out-fielders.

So far the men have been receiving batting and fielding practice daily in the Briggs Cage with each infield getting a separate workout. Outfielders have been warming up on grounders, thereby getting valuable fielding experience. Coach Mitchell hopes to have the squad practicing on the University diamond in Soldiers Field within ten days. Work will begin in earnest next week when the team starts to play six-inning practice contests in the cage.

Among the promising pitching candidates are four lettermen, Charles Devens '32, W. B. MacHale '31, W. K. Pago '31, and B. H. Ticknor '31. Reginald Fincke '32, J. E. Sheldon '32, and S. L. Batchelder '31, are the outstanding catching aspirants.
