ADVANCED SWIMMING COURSE DRAWS 35 TO FIRST PRACTICE

At the start of the three-weeks' course in advanced life-saving yesterday afternoon, 35 men reported for instruction. The work consisted chiefly in practicing various strokes, and in swimming a quarter-mile distance, a test required before any instruction in advanced life-saving is given.

Instruction will be given in two classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 4 o'clock, and from 4 to 5 o'clock. After three weeks, tests will be given for examiners' rating, after which the swimmers will be authorized instructors.
