INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC NOT TO CAUSE COLLEGE HOLIDAY

Definite denial of any possibility of suspension of classes of the University because of influenza was issued yesterday. The statement was in response to a persistent rumor that a serious epidemic of influenza would necessitate closing of classes for a short period.

Later yesterday Dr. P. H. Means '17, University Medical Adviser at Wadsworth House, gave out a number of details concerning the cases, which he said had never been numerous enough nor serious enough to constitute an epidemic. The only unusual thing about it was that the increase came in January instead of March as is usually the case. However, the peak was reached about a week after the end of the Christmas holidays, indicating that the students had gotten the diseases at their various homes.
